Foto profilo

I am a PhD candidate in the National PhD in Artificial Intelligence (XXXIX cycle). My work focuses on integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) into embodied robotic agents to enable scene understanding, task planning and safe interaction with the physical world. During my research I combine LLM commonsense reasoning with symbolic methods to improve reliability and reduce hallucinations when robots operate in real environments.

Awards & Challenges

SciRoc Challenge 2021
Bologna, Italy

European robotics and smart city competition (2021). As team leader, I led a challenge on Italian Sign Language (LIS): a TIAGo robot inside a cafeteria had to understand Italian Sign Language (LIS) from human users. Our team from the University of Basilicata won the challenge.

RoboCup 2022 Open Research Challenge
Bangkok, Thailand

The challenge (2022) required computing game statistics from robot soccer match videos: camera extrinsic calibration, object localization and tracking, and extraction of play statistics (ball possession, shots on goal, passes, etc.). As team leader, I led the development of MARIO, a project of the SPQR Team, that won the challenge at RoboCup 2022, ex aequo with B-Human.
